Memory & Preferences

Surfboard remembers your context and applies your rules automatically.

Surfboard gets more useful the more you work with it, because it remembers context and applies your rules automatically.

Memory – Surfboard builds a living profile from your conversations over time, learning your patterns, preferences, and context. Find and manage what it knows under Settings → Memory, where you can add, edit, or delete items manually.

Preferences – Tell Surfboard a rule in conversation (for example, "Always summarize in bullet points" or "Never include dollar figures in my reports") and it saves the rule and applies it in every future session — including scheduled document updates and background agents.

Example preference prompts:

Try these prompts:

  • "Always use British spelling"
  • "Lead every status update with a one-sentence summary"
  • "Don't pull from my Promotions Gmail label"

Preferences apply to background (scheduled) updates in addition to live conversations.
